About us

Since 2000, we’ve been creating spaces designed to enhance the way people live and work. Our properties are built with a focus on quality, functionality, and a strong sense of community. From garden homes, apartments, and commercial spaces, we believe in creating environments that feel connected and inviting.
We started as a family business with a small number of properties in Sackville. We have since become a leader in residential development in New Brunswick, bringing some of the largest projects the province has ever seen to life. With expertise in designing, building, and operating residential and commercial properties, we have been able to create community in all of our projects big and small.
A Message From Our Founder
When my late wife Heidi and I started this journey in 2000 we would have never imagined where it would be in today. My background as a school teacher and art dealer never quite prepared me for what was to come. Hard work, and a great team, has allowed me to achieve the unbelievable including our signature project, Three Sisters in downtown Moncton.
People ask me, “Why Three Sisters?” The answer is very close to the origins of Canada’s culture, and very close to my heart. As a young man I became a collector of Inuit and Indigenous art, and I was struck by how often the image of Three Sisters appeared in a painting or a carving, the figures intertwined in mutual support.
As my appreciation of such works grew, I learned how much we owe to all those who taught our ancestors the agricultural wisdom of Three Sisters – corn, beans, and squash – three vegetables, planted together, supporting each other in growth, and feeding the communities that nurtured them.
Time passed, and my wife Heidi and I were blessed with children – first one daughter, then twin girls, and then a fourth daughter. And as they grew, it struck me that each would always have Three Sisters to count on for love, for companionship, and for mutual support
And so, as the vision of this building project took shape – three stately towers overlooking the Petitcodiac River, designed to shelter hundreds of households on the shores of downtown Moncton – there grew the image of the Three Sisters, symbolic of growth and mutual support and community. I see it as a tribute to the inspiration of the earliest artists and farmers of this land, bearing the names of some of the dearest people in my life: our eldest, Quinn, our twins, Gwenythe and Elle, and our youngest, Caroline.
I'm excited for what is coming, from our two new buildings in Sackville along with our newest Moncton initiative, Gateway Towers.
I am proud of what the team at Lafford Properties, Lafford Formwork, and Lafford Developments has achieved. While we continue to grow our impact in the communities we serve, we have never forgotten our roots as a family business. I’m thankful for my brother Joe and nephew Jeff’s critical roles in driving our growth and how they support the strong personal relationships with those with whom we collaborate to drive our continued success.
